A temple with komuso musicians
Even today, there is a temple with komuso monks（虚無僧） who plays the shakuhachi. It’s Myoanji Temple（明暗寺）in Kyoto.

When the Fuke-shu sect（普化宗）was abolished in 1871, the Komuso disappeared and Myoanji was also no exception.
However, in 1959, it was revived as a religious corporation the Fukeseisyu Myoanji temple （普化正宗明暗寺）. It means to go around for indoctrination after completing the training that was the original purpose. Furthermore, indoctrination is a concept derived from Buddhism that guides people in peace through good deeds.
